Überblick
In dieser Saison gab es mit der SG Dynamo Dresden eine Übermannschaft, die als Absteiger der Favorit war und am Ende auch einen ordentlichen Vorsprung hatte. Ein paar Schwächen zeigte die Mannschaft aber, denn die Bilanz gegen unsere Wismut war z.B. negativ. Wismut gewann Zuhause und holte einen Punkt in Dresden. Das besondere an dem Punkt war, Wismut schoss das einzige Gästetor im Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion.
Das Kaiser-Team blieb im Stadion der Freundschaft ungeschlagen, hatte aber zu viele Unentschieden vorzuweisen, somit reichte es nicht zu Platz 2, der sicherlich drin war. Das sah man auch im FDGB-Pokal, wo Wismut eher selten erfolgreich war, diesmal erreichte man aber das Viertelfinale und unterlag dem FC Karl-Marx-Stadt mit 3:5, nach einer 3:0-Führung.
